Fort Bend Independent School District Information

Texas’ 17th largest school district, Fort Bend ISD is located in the northeast part of Fort Bend County immediately southwest of Houston and Harris County. The district encompasses 174 square miles including the incorporated cities of Missouri City, Sugar Land, Arcola and Meadows, a small portion of Houston, and the communities of Clodine, Dewalt, Rosharon, and Fresno.

Fort Bend is one of the fastest growing counties in the United States, and Fort Bend ISD parallels its growth. In 1995, Fort Bend ISD will have have 42 school (6 high schools, 8 middle schools, 28 elementary schools, a career school, and a special school) and expects to top 43,000 in enrollment.

School Board meeting for the Fort Bend ISD are held the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Meeting are held at 16431 Lexington Blvd. Sugarland, Texas.

ACCREDITATION: Fort Bend ISD is fully accredited by the Texas Education Agency, and the high schools are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

ADMISSION AND REGISTRATION: All children five years of age and under 21 years of age on or before the first day of September of any scholastic year and whose parents or legal guardians are bona fide residents of the Fort Bend ISD shall be admitted to the public schools. * Proposed planning for the year 2000 a new High School to be located on 2234 (Tx. Pwky) in Missouri City (High School #9). It takes two years to complete construction of a new school.
